UOP Focus Group

January 29, 2025

The EDUWEAR project is making great strides! Last week, the University of Pisa hosted the first focus group aimed at identifying the critical competency gaps in engineering education for wearable device development. This session marked another essential step in shaping the EDUWEAR course, ensuring it addresses the real needs of educators, students, and industry professionals in Europe.

The focus group brought together a diverse panel of nine experienced professionals, fostering an engaging and insightful discussion. Participants included:

  • Two skilled moderators who guided the discussion and ensured key insights were captured.
  •  Four educators from the engineering field who provided valuable input on technical and design-related competencies needed for students.
  • Two educators from the medical field, offering essential perspectives on how wearable devices should align with healthcare needs and applications.
  • One industry engineer, who shared insights into the practical skills and knowledge required in real-world settings.

This rich exchange of ideas highlighted the interdisciplinary nature of wearable technology and the importance of bridging the knowledge gap between engineering, healthcare, and industry. The insights gained from this discussion, combined with contributions from our project partners, will continue to serve as a foundation for crafting an impactful curriculum.

A huge thank you to all participants for their time, expertise, and enthusiasm! Stay tuned as we continue this journey, shaping the future of engineering education in wearable rehabilitation technology.
