UOO Focus Group

February 4, 2025

The EDUWEAR project has reached another key milestone! The University of Oulu has successfully conducted its focus group session, gathering valuable and interesting insights into competency gaps and curriculum requirements. This marks the completion of the series of focus groups conducted across three partner universities—University of Malta, University of Pisa, and University of Oulu.

The focus group at the University of Oulu brought together experts and educators from various fields, engaging in a thought-provoking discussion about the evolving landscape of engineering education. The session explored essential skills, industry expectations, and interdisciplinary knowledge needed to equip students with the expertise to design and develop wearable rehabilitation devices.

What’s Next?

With all three universities having completed their focus groups, the next phase of the project is set to begin—thematic analysis. By systematically analysing the qualitative data collected from each session, we aim to identify common themes, key challenges, and opportunities that will guide the development of the EDUWEAR course curriculum. This process will ensure that the course is aligned with real-world needs, bridging the gap between education, healthcare, and industry.

The insights gathered will play a crucial role in shaping an innovative, interdisciplinary and hands-on learning experience for students who aspire to work at the intersection of engineering and healthcare.

A big thank you to all the educators, industry experts, and researchers who contributed their time and expertise to these discussions. Stay tuned as we move forward with the analysis and take the next steps in building the future of engineering education for wearable rehabilitation technology!
