The University of Malta (UM) is the premier public teaching institution in Malta, aligned with the Bologna Process and the European Higher Education Area. With a 400-year history, it hosts 11,500 students, including 1,000 international students from 92 countries. Annually, approximately 3,500 students graduate.
UM comprises 14 faculties, 115 departments, 1 academy, 17 institutes, 13 centres, 3 schools, and 11 administrative directorates. Over the past 15 years, UM has participated in 365 EU-funded projects, including Horizon 2020 (70 projects), Horizon Europe (14 projects), Erasmus+ (114 projects), and more. UM is also engaged in national and international initiatives, currently overseeing 300 active projects.<\/p>

  • Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering: Focuses on product development methodology and technology, engineering design methods, manufacturing strategies, industrial automation, and high-value-added products. <\/li>

    The University of Pisa (UOP), founded in 1343, is a prestigious educational institution in Italy, featuring 20 departments and advanced research centers across various disciplines. It ranks 8th among Italian universities and 349th globally. The academic staff comprises approximately 1,400 professors and researchers, supported by 1,500 administrative staff, serving over 50,000 students from diverse regions and international backgrounds.\u00a0<\/p>

    UOP boasts 286 international interuniversity agreements, fostering collaboration in teaching, research, and training. Since 2012, it has formed strategic partnerships, including one with MIT, and participates in European networks and initiatives such as EUA, Science|Business, UNIMED, and EuroMarine. UOP is involved in over 200 EU-funded projects under programs like H2020 and Horizon Europe, emphasizing technology transfer with 121 national patent applications (87 obtained) and 115 international patent applications.<\/p>

    The key department in this project is the Department of Civil and Industrial Engineering (DICI), with around 70 members researching areas like industrial design, mechanical engineering, additive manufacturing, digital image correlation, reverse engineering, and augmented reality. Since 2020, UOP has coordinated or participated in 231 education and training projects funded by the Erasmus+ Programme, linking teaching, research, and enterprise activities globally.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    The University of Oulu (UOO) in northern Finland is a multidisciplinary university with 13,500 students and about 3,000 employees. It has eight faculties covering humanities, medicine, business, science, and technology. UOO focuses on five key areas: sustainability through materials and systems, lifelong health, digital solutions, environmental change, and understanding humans in change. UOO actively participates in EU Framework programmes and Erasmus+.
    The Centre for Ubiquitous Computing at UOO’s Linnanmaa Campus specializes in Ubiquitous Computing and Human-Computer Interaction, focusing on application-driven research. Since the inauguration of Fab Lab Oulu in 2015, digital fabrication has become a research priority.     The Department of Design, Manufacture and Engineering Management (DMEM) at the University of Strathclyde is a leading UK center for Industrial Engineering, supporting EDUWEAR with its expertise in design and manufacturing. The department boasts over 150 staff and excels in both fundamental and applied research, particularly in production technologies and innovation. DMEM’s extensive research activities result in the highest research income per academic at the university and a 4th place ranking in research power in the 2014 REF. The department supports over 60 postgraduate students with advanced laboratory and IT facilities, funded by H2020 and Research Council grants.     NICOMED Rehabilitation Centre is a registered trademark of Kinisiforo Ltd, a company based in Cyprus and specializing in rehabilitation equipment for neurological conditions. The main product, Kinisiforo, is a cutting-edge rehabilitation system developed through long-term clinical research and the K-Set method. The company collaborates with NicoMed Rehabilitation Centres in Limassol and Paphos, which have extensive experience treating conditions like MS, ALS, Parkinson’s, cerebral palsy, and brain or spinal cord injuries. Since 2004, the centres offer a range of therapies including physiotherapy, kinesiology, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and more, supervised by a team of medical professionals.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

    The EDUWEAR Project aims to equip learners with skills to design customisable wearable devices for rehabilitation, which necessitates the integration of a range of competencies.     01. Two Summer Course<\/h3>

    The first course will be held in a FabLab and aims to identify competencies lacking in engineers for developing rehab products.
